Die meiste Zeit hätten die Arbeiten am Fundament in Anspruch genommen, berichtete Thomas Jakoubek, Geschäftsführer der Bauträger Austria Immobilien (BAI). 800 Quadratmeter große Bauplatz liegt zwischen der Landstraßer Hauptstraße, der Gigerstraße und der Marxergasse und grenzt an die in der Invalidenstraße gelegene alte Markthalle. Die Markthalle werde „ähnlich wie vorher, nur moderner und besser“, sagt Jakoubek. Das Besondere an dem Projekt: Es handelt sich um die Überbauung des Bahnhofs Wien-Mitte im Bezirk Landstraße, in dem zwei U-Bahn- sowie fünf Schnellbahnlinien sowie der City Airport Train (CAT) halten. Dabei sei es auch zu Verzögerungen gekommen und das Bauende habe sich um ein halbes bis Dreivierteljahr verschoben. Der Baustart des Großprojekts erfolgte im Jahr 2007. Dem Vorhaben In der Halle soll wieder ein Markt Platz finden. Auch diese wird in den Neubau integriert und adaptiert.

Campsites are great for the kids, but if it’s raining then it’s possible to find yourself miles from town and stuck in the van. So far Austria wins the award for most expensive country to visit. Might as well free park in town and go out on the lash – which is why the “Stellplatz” are so good. It’s just not feasible to spend too long there, even though it’s one of the few countries in Europe where it’s possible to freepark. The best part however is that instead of being miles away from the centre, often they are only a few hundred metres away from beautiful old towns. Thus we have no pictures and not much material, although we did have a great bike ride, found a wonderful play park, and ate a very average (but cripplingly expensive) Chinese meal. Germany on the other hand provides us with special places to park, mostly for free, with toilets and electric hook-up....
